Howie has more than 20 years experience in the pre-hospital and critical care air ambulance transport industry throughout Ontario including the greater Toronto area, smaller centers such as Sudbury, and the James/Hudson’s Bay in the remote north. At present, he is still on the frontline, but in a limited clinical capacity, leveraging more time to a Clinical Practice Lead role within Clinical Affairs.

The new program has focused effort on development and delivery of continuous professional development and initial education at both local and regional levels. His experience has given him the opportunity to see the growth, evolution, and standardization of paramedicine over the last 30 years; a trajectory that has shown how we are an integral component of the healthcare system. Particularly in how it is consistently demonstrated that high levels of expectations, expertise, and professionalism improves healthcare delivery in remote/rural areas.

Consequently, in being from a small Indigenous community, he has witnessed the drastic progression of healthcare in these rural and remote communities because of the ICU and emergency care we provide.

Our guest speaker, Mark Tewksbury, first came to prominence as a record-breaking backstroke swimmer.  His sixteen-year athletic career included 21 national titles, 7 world records, Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals, and a cover appearance on TIME magazine.

After his Olympic success, Tewksbury retired from swimming and began a storied career spanning over 30 years as a speaker, humanitarian, activist and community leader.

In 2020, Mark was appointed Companion of the Order of Canada, the nation’s highest civilian honor.  Last September, Mark represented Canada as part of the Honours Procession at Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral.  He is currently Vice President of the Canadian Olympic Committee.

Justin Foraie is Vice President, Operations and Marketing for Crescent Point. Mr. Foraie has been with the company since 2009 and has held engineering roles of increasing responsibility, primarily focused on developing the company’s United States properties where he previously served as Vice President, U.S. Operations. Prior to joining Crescent Point, Mr. Foraie worked for Talisman Energy.

Mr. Foraie has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Petroleum Systems Engineering from the University of Regina and is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business LEAD program. Mr. Foraie became a Registered Professional Engineer in 2008 and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
