Michael has been a founder or early stage principle investor and Director of companies in the energy, B2B software, medical, financial services, and property development sectors. Past initiatives include: Solium Capital, sold in 2019 to Morgan Stanley;  Cority, sold to a P.E. consortium in 2019; Engage Energy, sold to Duke Energy in 2002; and Peyto Exploration & Development, now in its third decade. Current pursuits include: JEMM, a Calgary based property developer; and several early stage technology firms.

Current ‘not for profit’ engagements include: Partner/Mentor with CDL (Creative Destruction Labs) – CDL is focussed on enabling early stage technology companies and their founders; Board member for CAWST (Center for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology) – CAWST brings clean water and sanitation solutions to the developing world.

Michael and his wife Jacquie have two adult children; and they like to travel the world, usually from the vantage point of a tandem bicycle.
