SASKATOON, Sept. 25, 2025 – At STARS’ 10th annual Rescue on the Prairie event, five esteemed industry leaders took on a series of STARS simulation challenges to help raise $417,000 in support of saving the next patient in need.

Beginning at the STARS base in Saskatoon, participants were airlifted by a red STARS H145 air ambulance helicopter to a remote prairie location. During multiple simulations and challenges, participants called friends, family, and colleagues to help meet their fundraising goal of at least $50,000 each, to earn their flight home. Funds raised through Rescue on the Prairie directly support the meaningful work of STARS’ life-saving air medical crew.

“Today demonstrated the vital role STARS plays in delivering advanced critical care, and brought our donor community together by offering a firsthand look at the challenges our medical and flight crews face daily,” said Dr. John Froh, president and CEO of STARS. “On behalf of everyone at STARS, we are deeply grateful for the support shown to us by our community, who act as the backbone of our operations and allow us to fund the specialized training and equipment required to help patients in emergencies.”

“As someone deeply connected to Saskatchewan’s farming community, I know how vital STARS is to rural families,” said Tim Hammond, rescue participant and founder and CEO of Hammond Realty. “Supporting this year’s campaign is my way of giving back to an organization that delivers critical care exactly when and where it’s needed most. It’s an honour to stand behind a cause that truly saves lives.”

Participants competed in a series of challenges focused on engineering, fundraising, medical, and STARS’ Emergency Link Centre. At every step, they were paired with a STARS air medical crew member.

The participants who took part in the fundraising event were:

  • Dr. Donna Jubin Founder and Medical Director, Bella Sante MD Cosmetic and Laser Clinic
  • Ken Madraga Former Owner, Melody Motors in Melfort
  • Tim Hammond Founder and CEO, Hammond Realty
  • Kelly Wilson President and CEO, Saskatchewan Blue Cross
  • Prabha Ramaswamy CEO, Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce

Rescue on the Prairie is the third Rescue event held by STARS. Rescue on the River in Manitoba took place in May and Rescue on the River in Alberta took place on Sept. 18, 2025.
