It’s been a long road to recovery for Paul Neufeld, a father of two. He doesn’t remember much from that cold November night. That the trauma from the incident stole his memory is a blessing he says.
He knew he was shopping earlier in the day, a reminder made possible by the receipt in his jacket pocket. Travelling down the divided highway, an elderly couple turned into the wrong lane. Neither saw each other and the couple in the other car died at the scene.
He credits STARS for making sure he didn’t leave his wife and newborn son Parker behind.
“I can’t even put into words how important these people are to the province and the people,” he said. “Accidents happen. We need these guys out there to save people’s lives. I look at it as life insurance.”
