Municipal Hail continues to help save lives across Saskatchewan with renewed gift to STARS

March 16, 2021

SASKATCHEWAN, March 16, 2021 – History repeated itself last week when Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurance (SMHI) announced a second gift of $1 million to support the missions of STARS air ambulance in the province.

The announcement was made during the virtual annual convention of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities – the same venue in which the producer led, Saskatchewan-based agricultural insurance association announced its first major donation to STARS nearly four years ago to the day.

“On behalf of Municipal Hail’s clients, we are proud to announce that Municipal Hail has signed another four-year commitment of $1 million dollars to STARS. We all live and work in communities that benefit from the service that STARS provides. Our motivation is to give something back to the residents of Saskatchewan and what better group to do that with than STARS?” said Rodney Schoettler, Municipal Hail Insurance CEO.

STARS, like Municipal Hail, provides a valuable service that is paramount to the continued success and health of our province,” said Schoettler.

Municipal Hail’s donation will be directed toward the operations of STARS’ bases in Regina and Saskatoon. With this renewed gift, SMHI has now provided $2 million in support of the not-for-profit’s life-saving efforts.

“While MHI insures the crops and livelihoods of people across rural Saskatchewan when disaster strikes, STARS helps ensure people have the best prospect of a second chance when the unthinkable happens,” said Andrea Robertson, STARS president and CEO.

“We truly could not do what we do without the steadfast support of donors like Municipal Hail, and their renewed commitment will enable us to continue fighting for the lives of patients when they need us most, in communities across the province,” Robertson said.
