Pre-Hospital and Transport Medicine Advanced Learning Program

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Thanks to all those who’ve applied. A short list of applicants will be contacted regarding an interview in the coming weeks.

STARS offers a six to nine month Area of Advanced Learning Certificate program in Prehospital and Transport Medicine (PTM). Successful applicants will work alongside experienced pre-hospital clinicians with critical care transport of seriously ill and injured patients. STARS can respond directly to scene calls or aid in inter-facility care and transportation. Transports are primarily completed via helicopter, but trainees will be expected to attend airplane and ground transports where appropriate.

The trainees will gain valuable experience in managing logistics of transport in addition to providing consultant level advice to referring practitioners. The PTMALP is part of STARS’ renowned education program with weekly case teaching sessions and monthly simulation or procedure sessions. The trainees will also be involved in quality improvement, education, and / or research opportunities.

The STARS PTMALP leadership team is currently in the process of application to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for designation as a formal Area of Focused Competency (AFC).
