A night to remember: Field of STARS raises over $600,000

SASKATOON, July 16, 2025 – Yesterday, the Canadian agriculture community came together for the eighth annual Field of STARS event, presented by Nutrien. Every dollar raised for the occasion supports STARS’ mission of providing advanced critical care across Western Canada ─ for years to come.

The 2025 Field of STARS event raised a record-breaking $600,000. Since its inception in 2018, the gala has raised more than $3.5 million in support of STARS. The agriculture sector has been a steadfast supporter of STARS since launching operations in Saskatchewan in 2012. Every dollar donated at Field of STARS helps provide life-saving pre-hospital care to Saskatchewanians in rural and remote areas.

“On behalf of everyone at STARS, we are deeply grateful for our partners in the agriculture community,” said Dr. John Froh, president and CEO of STARS. “To come together, share a meal and connect with one another is just invaluable. The support of one of the world’s largest industries allows us to innovate, staff our exceptional air medical team and ultimately, save the next patient in need.”

During the program, STARS Very Important Patient (VIP), Lyle Griffin, took the stage to share his inspiring story of survival and resilience. Just last year, a 3,500 pound wheat combine rolled over his midsection on his future son in law’s farm. On that fateful day, STARS was his best hope in a worst-case scenario. Thanks to their rapid response and expert care, Lyle survived. Now walking with just a limp, his story is a powerful reminder of the essential role STARS plays in saving lives.

“Tragedy struck in an instant, but STARS was just a call away. I’ll be forever grateful for that red helicopter and the incredible team that saved my life that day,” said Lyle Griffin, STARS VIP.

Held at the Prairieland Park in Saskatoon and in conjunction with Ag in Motion, the country gala and live auction treated guests to a fabulous rib dinner, incredible auction prizes, live music from none other than 2025 Juno nominee, Tyler Joe Miller and a late night full of two stepping.
